I know what you're saying Josh, but I think the fact that you have no idea what the big pic is, doesn't influence what you do, and so everyone's different take on it, and random ideas is part of what makes it so cool when it all comes together.

I don't think we should know what the Big picture is. Each artist should try to create his or her artwork within the shapes, colors and tones of the piece given. If everyone does that, the picture will flow together the way it is supposed to. Personally, I liked not knowing and it was fun to finally see what we were creating at the end. Just my opinion.

I don't even think colours should be dictated.

Every one working in monochromatic could be an option , with freedom to choose colors

Would that affect how easily the big pic would be seen? The only similar ideas I've seen (usually photo mosaics, not like ours) all the different images stuck to the tones of that area of the overall pic. I can't quite get my head around how that would work out if everyone used there own colours. But then my poor lonely little brain cell struggles with a lot of things LOL!

Like you said, you need to stick to the correct tone, but you do the colours you like. It will look great.

As a new member, I am just now seeing this this. What a great idea it was, and it came out exceptionally well! I hope another one of these is in the works this year.
