Water Based Lung Protection

I work next to an open window, but I wear a standard dust mask available at any do it yourself shop, usually can also find the better versions with changeable filters and have seal around the nose and mouth, if you can't find this type at the do D.I.Y. shop you will certainly find them at trade centres, Dulux or Crown trade centres for example, I would suggest you done buy these at airbrush shops because you will pay more than double the cost.

You will be safer with the better mask if your planning on 2K clearing.

I forgot to mention, I over thin and work at very low pressure, usually between 5 and 10 PSI, if you are spraying at higher pressures you may need an even better mask.

Water based paints are less harmful than uro's but they still contain harmful substances.

Thanks all.. I have some of the medical masks because my sis is a nurse.. Prolly use those for water based.. For 2k & URO's I have a actual paint respirator.

dust masks wont keep much out, the reall fine stuff will get through, a professional mask is just a must, dont forget that u need to change the filters.

For water based paint, you should only need those medical masks for to keep the paint out right? There isn't any harsh fumes is there? Are you saying real fine paint will get through those masks and go into your lungs? I didn't think the paint could get through a medical mask. Maybe I should wear my paint respirator for all paints? That seems kind of silly to me for some reason but I don't know everything that's why I'm asking.

Water borne paint is just as bad as urethane when it comes to you lungs. The dust mask that the medical field wear will protest some but not 100% .

My neighbors all look at me like I'm chopping up bodies in my garage with my knife making hobby.. Lots of loud noises angle grinders and large belt grinders. Plus I have a propane forge.. They will see me with the paint respirator and think I'm wearing a gas mask..lol.

So let think what ever the heck they want too.
If I worried about what my neighbors thought I would not have any neighbors...LOL

I really don't care I just think its funny their reactions.. Lol.. Especially the propane forge that thing looks crazy when it's turned all the way up. It gets hot here in FL in the summer.. Thinking about how I'm going to airbrush then.. Maybe I'll bring it in the house.. I do have a 50 foot hose for my compressor so I wouldn't have to move the 20gal loud as hell compressor .. Good thing about 20gal is the compressor doesn't need to kick on.. I can airbrush forever on one tank. I usually fill it up to 155 psi and turn it off.. Once I get to about 60 psi, I turn on & let it refill to 155.

if you watch Marissa paint shes not wearing a mask ab tutor doesn't wear one in any of his videos, i don't wear one i have a fan that sucks out the air as i spray im sure mitch uses a fan when hes doing his videos of course when i shoot heavy material i use the fan but when i am painting blood vessels in eyes no fan no circulation after the places iv worked a little airbrush with water colors isn't going to kill me i think its a mater of preference i use to do lots of Fiberglas work not any more and never again lol that's way worse Thain this stuf of course wearing a mask is always a good idea i might actually look into one there cheap enough

i was going to say if your working on small stuf work inside but if you have the ac on keeping the windows shut will kill the fresh air, exhaust fan in the window idea. unles your one of those people who have the window open and ac on some people do that you can also close the door of the room your in and wear a mask (respirator) but i stil think its kind of over kill if your doing small work when you think about it what about the guys doing t shirts at the mall with how anal people are these days if there were a couple of guys in the mall spraying stuff and wearing respirators that wood scare allot of people in the mall

Ok guys ,its simple if you were ment to breathe it in then your lungs would be designed to do so .Extraction in your work area is good but a mask should be essential especially in a confined space and if you are using solvents then it should be compulsory . Its a small price to pay to keep your health . Just because you cant see those atomised particles does not mean you are safe .

I love the pro disclaimer in videos I would be wearing a mask but for the sake I will be talking through this video I will not be wearing one

They call them the rainbow lung club...LMAO Most of the pros have enough air flow to move a ton of over spray...

I love winter in FL. Summer is like our winter because it becomes almost too hot to do anything outside.

Personally I don't bother as I do film all my painting and I do paint outside with lots of fresh country air to hopefully suck away those nastie's, but preach to others to do so if they care about their lungs..But saying that if you live in the city, do you wear a mask when you walk down the road? LOL..Our lungs are copping it from every direction, my air filter consists of a cigarette so I feel pretty safe ;)..Really though if you don't want health issues don't live in the city...Oppps I mean don't airbrush without a mask LOL
