I started a special little something and decided to use poster board.
This go around I decided the reference I chose would look good on black. Usually I use white with no problems.
One side of the white has a little gloss to it, but the black doesn’t.
It’s taking forever to layer in my white.
Wasn’t sure if I should try and hit it with some inter-coat clear or try and add some opaque into the mix.
I hate to try too much since I’m already about 6 hours in.

When I wanna make white color on black tshirt I use hairdryer + opague white. Color dries in the air and it builds faster. But I don't do poster boards...I wonder if this would work on your thirsty poster board.

I think that’s what I’m going to try is some reduced opaque for now until I finish this one (I don’t want to start over AGAIN o_O)
Then I’ll play with some inter-coat clear.
I’ll post some pics a little later :whistling:

maybe transparent base + hairdryer so you make a layer and you can build on that layer... But my 'suggestions' are used for t-shirts.

intercoat or transparent base will probably seal it sufficiently to progress, I'd still add a little opaque to your white
you can lay the trans base on there now if you don’t need to erase anything that’s already there.

Next time hunt down the poster board with a shiney side lol

Ah OK, sounds like you are working on the porous side... the shiny side is awesome! Lay down some clear and you should be good to go...

The black poster board I use is black on both sides and both side have a semi shine to them but paint hold well on it.But when using white over the black you will get a blue shift in the color . Just a touch of orange to the white will help keep the blue shift from happening .
If you doing a candy paint job on a black surface then no need to add the orange to the white as color shift will be hidden once the candy is applied .
Question on the poster board is it actual poster board or foam core board. Some refer to the foam core as poster board.

This is just the regular thin poster board. Not the foam type

I’ve had trouble getting smooth black as well, the porous stuff really kills vibrancy!

If you need solid coverage white over a darker color, white autobourne sealer will get you there quicker without blue shift  Only solid areas, not blends.
